Tears in rain (2017)

Two basic materials are superimposed in this work: the first one is a free canon in which the cello acts as a sort of shadow or rarified echo of the violin, and derives from a previous series of solo string pieces on the idea of tears (Una furtiva lágrima, for viola, 2013; Lágrimas, for cello, 2014; and Jardín de lágrimas, for violin, 2014). The second material, introduced by the piano, is a filtered version of Chopin's Prelude Op. 28 N° 15, popularly known as "Rain drops". The words "[…] All those moments will be lost, in time, like tears in rain […]" are part of the final monologue prior to the death of the 'replicant' Roy Batty in the film Blade Runner (Ridley Scott, 1982).
